Code of Practice
Mike upholds the marriage celebrants' Code of Practice. It sets out how celebrants have to conduct themselves and is regulated by the Commonwealth Attorney-General's Department.

  • To be a marriage celebrant in Australia, you have to be registered by the Commonwealth Attorney-General's Department. That can only happen once you've completed the required study and been tested on your skills and knowledge. Then, every year, there's further study plus refresher units to be completed.

Under the Code of Practice celebrants are obliged to:

  • keep clients' information private
  • inform clients about marriage and relationship counselling services
  • ensure all legal requirements for a marriage are completed
  • conduct themselves at all times in a professional manner
  • much more besides!
